The reason Grampy believes in emergency preparedness is that I live on a dirt road 10 mi. from a winter maintained oiled road. This dirt road is closed to Automobile travel for 3Mo. of the year, Leaving snowmobile travel and early and late snow storms with Grampy being prepared for many emergency. My power company supplies a good source of AC power, but with a cold snap and high winds breaking more than one power pole, they may be unable to restore power for weeks. This calls for some sort of back up power to operate my well and lighting, That is why I have a generating and solar system to maintain a comfortable life style. Grampy has two sources of heat, wood and electric heating. This is why emergency energy, food, tools and information is a part of my life.
The great part of where Grampy live’s is the fishing lake and stream within walking distance of my two story log home in the Aspen trees. This Cabin is where Grampy’s wife saw a mountain lion wander by in the middle of the day, a Feret visited this morning, along with Deer, Moose,Fox and numerous birds always dropping by. We also have another of natures animals that live with us. Bats like to occupy our cabin, but we are doing our best to eliminate their coexistence with us.
